Piotr Pławner has won awards and distinctions at many of the most important violin competitions in the world. He is, among other things, the winner of the 1st place in the Henryk Wieniawski Competition in Poznań (ex aequo with Bartłomiej Nizioł) and the 1st prize at the highly prestigious International German Radio Competition (ARD) in Munich.
The American violin virtuoso and conductor – Yehudi Menuhin – expressed his delight about the Polish violinist: "Bravo, he is one of the most extraordinary talents of our time. He is a genius who will awaken even the snippiest audience with his demonic, bravado and virtuosity." Pławner is without a shadow of a doubt one of the most outstanding and creative violinists of his generation. His album achievements include many critically acclaimed music publications, including the recording of Karol Szymanowski and Mieczysław Karłowicz's violin concertos, for which the Strad monthly awarded the artist the title of The Strad Selection for the best concert performance. Polish music has a unique place in the discography and concert life of Piotr Pławner.
In 2018, the prestigious Haenssler Classic released Pławner's album recorded with one of the most exciting pianists of his generation – Piotr Sałajczyk. Artists, so closely associated with Polish music in their concert lives, recorded the most beautiful Polish violin miniatures of composers from the second half of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century – Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Aleksander Zarzycki, Roman Statkowski, Emil Młynarski, Juliusz Zarębski and Adam Andrzejowski.
Piotr Sałajczyk places the person and work of Karol Szymanowski at the centre of his interests. He is a valued chamber musician and a promoter of the works of Polish composers. The artist was nominated for Polityka's Passports for sensitivity and intelligence, with which he approaches the repertoire forgotten in our concert halls. This exceptional interpreter and performer has recorded a complete set of piano works by Juliusz Zarębski and Władysław Żeleński.
Two extraordinary artistic personalities, so closely associated with the performance of Polish music, will present the beauty of Polish mazurkas, cracoviennes, polonaises and melodic romances during the concert.
