Astor Piazzolla went down in history as the creator of nuevo tango, a fusion of traditional tango with jazz and classical music elements.
The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires is a suite of tangos composed in reference to Vivaldi's cycle, though in the order of autumn, winter, spring, and summer. The first part of the name Libertango comes from the word libertad, meaning 'freedom.' Oblivion, or 'Forgetfulness,' is perhaps Piazzolla's most famous piece, popularised by the film Henry IV, for which it served as the soundtrack. The film is based on the story of an Italian nobleman who, during a masquerade ball, falls and loses consciousness. When he regains it, he assumes the role of the character he had been impersonating – Emperor Henry. Milonga can refer to both a type of dance and a place for dance gatherings. Milonga del Ángel can be interpreted as both the dance of an angel and a gathering organized or attended by an angel. For me, tango has always been for the ear, not for the feet, Piazzolla summarized his work.
