Paweł Tomaszewski – pianist, composer, and arranger – returns to Szczecin to present, along with his jazz quartet and the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the material from their collaborative album Coincidence.
As the Szczecin Philharmonic's artist-in-residence for the 2022/2023 artistic season, Tomaszewski charmed everyone – not only the entire ensemble but, more importantly, the music lovers. The album Coincidence, which was the culmination of his residency, received a nomination for the 2024 Fryderyk Awards (congratulations to Aga Derlak and Andrzej Święs Trio for their nominations as well!).
The album features two compositions – jazz suites – created on special commission by the Szczecin Philharmonic. The first suite, titled Three Crowns, is composed for symphony orchestra, jazz sextet, and solo voice. The second suite, Przypadek, takes its main theme from Wojciech Kilar’s music for Krzysztof Kieślowski’s film of the same name. This piece is a tribute to Polish film production.
For the first time since its premiere performance in December 2021, Coincidence will be performed with the same ensemble that can be heard on the album.
