It is already the third edition of the International Mieczysław Karłowicz Composers' Competition, organised by the Philharmonic in collaboration with the Society of Authors ZAiKS. From the hundreds of entries submitted by composers worldwide, the jury will select several pieces to be performed for the first time during the grand final concert. Only then will the winner be announced, and music lovers will also present the audience prize.
The first edition of the competition, still without a patron, took place in 2018 to mark the centenary of ZAiKS. Following the great success of that event, the second edition was organised in 2022. The Szczecin Philharmonic is an ideal space for presenting contemporary compositions. Its bold, unconventional architecture provides a natural setting for 21st-century music.
For music enthusiasts, attending the final gala of the international composers' competition is a unique opportunity not only to discover the most current musical trends but also to hear several world premieres in a single concert. Who knows, perhaps one of them will turn out to be a timeless masterpiece?
