Unique flavors, sharing the wafer or decorating the Christmas tree – of all the elements and traditions that create the unique aura of Christmas, caroling is probably the most important.
However, few people know that the tradition of singing carols goes back far into the past, to Slavic folk traditions. For pagan peoples, carol singing was associated with vegetation magic and conjuring harvest and fertility. It was believed that the words of carols had special powers. Later, the carol became a New Year's song of welcome and praise for the hosts. Its task was to convey wishes of happiness and prosperity. The carol was transformed into a song related to the birth of Christ much later, with the spread of Christianity in Europe. Supposedly, the author of the first carol was Francis of Assisi. Since then, arranging and composing Christmas carols has been a constant, living tradition. During this special evening, in the golden symphony hall, we will listen to the most beautiful Christmas carols performed by an orchestra, prolonging the magic of the most beautiful holidays of the year.
