Fresco String Quintet is formed by artists searching for their own voice in the world of classical music, willing to combine the highest possible level of performance with youthful passion.
This innovative string quintet is formed by outstanding instrumentalists, and at the same time the youngest, passionate musicians of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic in Szczecin and the Opera at the Castle in Szczecin:
- Maria Sosnowska-Sakowska – violin
- Maria Nowak – violin
- Ewa Jungiewicz – viola
- Dominika Kotlicka – viola
- Wojciech Jaworski – cello
They are graduates of the best Polish and foreign music schools: the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań, the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice and the Musikhochschule Lübeck in Germany. They are also graduates of the best Polish orchestral academies: the Sinfonia Varsovia Academy, the NFM Orchestra Academy and the NOSPR Orchestra Academy.
The quintet was founded in 2023 to create a space for musicians to work creatively, different from symphonic or operatic performances, and to exchange musical ideas and inspirations in a small group. The mission of the Fresco String Quintet is to break the streak of string quartets and present to the audience unpopular masterpieces of classical music originally written for a string quintet with two violas.
