IMAGINE is the theme for the seventh edition of the MDF Festival, held from October 3-6, 2024. Following this motif, the festival will become a space of creativity, imagination, and reflection on contemporary global challenges. Imagination is a force that allows us to transcend the boundaries of reality, explore new possibilities, and create realities. In the context of the festival, the use of imagination will become a crucial element not only for art and design but also for our mental well-being.
Four spaces within the Philharmonic will be dedicated to visual arts during the festival. We will showcase various aspects of imagination in art and design and demonstrate how modern technologies can be combined with imagination in design to create unique and functional spaces.
In the Philharmonic Lobby, PanGenerator will present an artistic installation Noise Surround System created especially for the MDF festival. This collective explores new means of creative expression in their work. In Level 4 Gallery, we will feature photographs by Szymon Brodziak, an acclaimed and globally admired master of black-and-white photography. Festival participants will also have the opportunity to experience the extraordinary project Light The Rust by artists Gie El, which will reveal the beauty of rust, discovering its energy and aesthetics. We will also have an experience using XR glasses – Echoes of self illusions in heritage. This will be the result of workshops inspired by the history of the Baltic region and the city of Wolin.
A significant part of the program will be two debates. The first one will focus on online hate speech – a growing social issue that requires not only imagination but also empathy to find solutions. The second one will focus on the use of modern technologies in cultural activities.
The musical section will not disappoint. This year, the festival will feature a performance by the renowned countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński, who, along with pianist Aleksander Dębicz, will present the project #LetsBaRock. The artists will give a new dimension and sound to Baroque music by embedding it in contemporary and pop culture.
For the first time, there will be a music offering specifically for youth: a concert Just So You Know?, created entirely by young people. We will give a voice to rapping youth, awakening their imagination and creative power.
For the youngest festival participants, a series of workshops will demonstrate how imagination can be used in everyday life while promoting environmental care. This will be a perfect opportunity to develop creativity and strengthen ecological awareness.
The festival illumination by Pushka Studio will decorate the building's facade in the evenings and, as every year, become an artistic element of the festival's message.
Join us to explore new horizons of art, design, and music and create unforgettable moments full of inspiration and reflection. See you in October at the Szczecin Philharmonic.
