The exposition attempts to answer the question about the relations and dependencies that occur between architecture and music. The architect Robert Konieczny conducted an analysis of five unique European concert halls constructed in the last decade – the Philharmonic in Szczecin, The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet in Oslo, Blaibach Concert Hall, Harpa Concert and Conference Center in Reykjavik and Casa da Musica in Porto. This installation presents photographs of the concert halls and buildings in the context of comments and releases by the various designers and directors. The opportunity to understand the uniqueness of each space stemming from both the location and designer’s intentions are on show.
An artistic project by Katarzyna Krakowiak constitutes an integral part of the exhibition entitled “Architecture is the Music of Space”, an audio-visual work inspired by the Philharmonic in Szczecin. The artist created an intimate portrait of the building, applying transcendent images and unique sounds of the building.
Ewa P. Porębska supervised this undertaking as curator of the exhibition.
The opening of the exhibition “Architecture is the Music of Space” will take place with the participation of the artist and curator on 22nd June 2016 at 20:00. The exposition will be open to the public from 10th September 2016.
